We have inspected the news sites on March 10th, 2022, in EU member states.

In the following, the pictures show the most frequent words that were included in news titles, and Bogdan Voicu briefly explains the findings.

În cele ce urmează, sunt prezentate cele mai frecvente cuvinte din titlurile știrilor, apoi Bogdan Voicu oferă o scurtă interpretare a celor observate.
Dat fiind că există o diferență mare a ponderii știrilor despre războiul din Ucraina în funcție de aproprierea de teatrul de război, analiza ia în considerare diferențele dintre țările care au graniță comună cu Rusia sau Ucraina (Suedia, Finlanda, țările baltice, Polonia, Slovacia, Ungaria, România) și țările care nu sunt în această situație.
The size of the words is proportional to their frequency relative to the others in the same figure.
This ensures comparability between figures.
Mărimea cuvintelor este proporțională cu frecvența lor relativă (în raport cu celelalte cuvinte din aceeași figură).
Astfel, figurile sunt comparabile între ele.

In the countries with no common border to Russia or Ukraine, UKRAINE and RUSSIA dominate the news, but 'Ukraine' (and its variations) has a slightly higher frequency as compared to 'Russia' (and its variations).
'War' and 'East' are less that half as frequent as Ukraine and Russia.
Refugees, prices, beginning, and Putin were the other more frequent words, but they appear less than half as frequent as WAR and EAST.
In the East, 'Russia' and 'Ukraine' are equally important, also leading by far the top of most frequent words.
'War' and 'Putin' are in the second stream, being half as frequent as the first ones.
'Covid/Corona', 'Prices', 'Death' make up a third stream, a third as present as WAR or PUTIN.
Quite close, one can retrieve Kiev, World, President, Time, Attack, Growth, News, etc.
Google Translate was employed for translating the titles from national languages to English/Romania.

The overall impression is that despite the war dominates the news both in bordering countries and far away, the focus is different depending on the distance to the effective fights.
In the countries bordering the war theater, Russia and Putin are more important than in the West, where Ukraine comes more often into the light. Symptomatic is that 'refugees' become more important in the West than in the country that receive them immediately.
For the West, the war is "in the EAST".
In the East, the salience of UKRAINE and RUSSIA (as most frequent words) is lower than in the West, meaning that there are various other words that come into place with a low frequency.
Impresia generală este că omogenitatea știrilor dminate de război cunoaște nuanțări importante în funcție de distanța față de luptele efective.
În timp ce Vestul acordă importanță mai ridicată Ucrainei, în Est Rusia și Putin sunt cuvinte mai frecvente în titlurile știrilor.
Pentru țările care nu au o graniță comună cu Rusia sau Ucraina, "Est" apare mult mai frecvent (relativ).
În Est, importanța masivă a UCRAINEI și RUSIEI, cuvintele dominante, este mai redusă, indicând o pleiadă mare de cuvinte ce ating frecvențe mai reduse.
